Day 1 WATERBERG PLATEAU
We meet the group at the flight arrival time and transfer through Windhoek, about 45 km, before heading north and directly to the Waterberg Plateau via Okahandja, where we have time for a short stop at the local craft market. It is 120km to Okahandja and should take 1 and a half hours to get here. We have 1 hour to explore the market. It is then 220km to the Waterberg Plateau national park, and should take 2 and a half hours to drive. We will do a late afternoon walk to the top of the Plateau – 1 to 2 hours walking. Maximum altitude 1650m
Day 2 WATERBERG PLATEAU
We have the full day to explore the park on foot as we head out for an early morning walk along the base of the Waterberg Plateau. We will follow the Kudu trail before walking down to the old mission and then to the park reception. Here we can book the optional afternoon game drive – own expense. We then walk back up to our chalets for lunch and then head out in the afternoon for another walk for those that do not want to do the optional game drive. We will do the aloe circular walk. Maximum altitude 1350m.
Day 3 ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK
We leave the Waterberg after an early breakfast and drive through farmland country to the Hoba meteorite, 150km about a 2and a half hour journey on sand roads. We spend some time looking at the largest meteorite in the world before enjoying lunch in Grootfontein, own expense, we then head through Tsumeb towards Etosha National Park and our lodge situated very close to the gate, 200km and a further 2 and a half hours. We stop and visit lake Otjikoto en-route. On arrival there is a self guided trail on the property and we will go for a 1 to 2 hour walk. The leader will check on arrival if the walk is available and if the path has been cleared after the rains. It is also possible to visit the lodge reptile display.
Day 4 ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast we enjoy a morning game drive into the Etosha National Park in the Mask Expeditions vehicle, stopping at a few of the waterholes with an excellent chance of seeing many of the resident wildlife species as we make our way to Halali camp. We will arrive for lunch at the park restaurant, own expense, before checking into our accommodation. We then head out in the afternoon for another game drive. After dinner clients can sit at the floodlit waterhole.
Day 5 ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK
We will go into the park for an early morning game drive and then return to camp for breakfast and spend some time at the waterhole before going out in the afternoon for another game drive in the Mask Expeditions vehicle. We return to camp at gate closing time. After dinner clients can sit at the floodlit waterhole.
Day 6 TWYFELFONTEIN
Leaving Etosha National Park, we continue our journey south as me make our way into the dessert towards Twyfelfontein. We will have a short break in Outjo, we can buy lunch at the bakery and eat this at the petrified forest, 290 km and about 4 and a half hours driving and have lunch before visiting the Bushmen engravings at Twyfelfontein. We explore the area on foot with our local guides, who lead us through this region adorned with rock engravings (+/- 2 hours walking). In the late afternoon we make our way to our lodge. Once we leave the tar roads the gravel roads in this area are always really bad and the drive can be slow and bumpy.
Day 7 BRANDBERG
We continue south, skirting the Branberg Mountains as we make our way to the White Lady lodge. On route we will stop at one of the craft Villages for a visit, around 1 hour. We will have lunch and check in before transferring 15 minutes to the start of the Brandberg White Lady painting walk, the guided walk will take us about 3 hours and we will have the opportunity to learn much more about this famous painting. The roads on this day are terrible and will most likely stay this way, clients need to be aware of these road conditions.
Day 8 SWAKOPMUND
This morning we make our way to the coast and visit the Cape Fur seal colony at Cape Cross, 200km and a 2 and a half hour drive. We spend around 1 hour here before making our way down the cost to Swakopmund, another 125km about an hour and a half. We will arrive in Swakopmund for a late lunch. In the afternoon the group will go on a walking tour through Swakopmund with the tour leader. The walk will take between 3 to 4 hours and we will visit all the main highlights of the town, The Hansa Brauerie, the Kaserne, Hause Hohenzollern, the Old Hotel Kaiserhof, the Jetty, Woermann Haus, Altes Kaiserliches Bezirksgericht, the Marine Denkmal, Kabelmesse building, Altes Amtsgericht, the Kristall Galerie, Altes Staatsbahnhof and the Deutsche Evangelische Lutherische Kirche.
Day 9 SWAKOPMUND
We enjoy a full free day for optional activities.
Day 10 NAMIB DESERT
After breakfast we visit Walvis Bay and it's coastal lagoons in the hope of seeing the migrant Flamingo population. We then head through the Lunar landscapes surround the coastal towns as we make our way back into the dessert through the Namib Naukluft park to Sesriem and our nearby lodge. On route we drive through the Kuiseb pass and enjoy a lunch stop in Solitaire. We arrive at the Namib desert lodge where our luggage gets transported to the Dune Star Camp and the clients enjoy a walk to the camp. Please note that the lodge sequence may be swapped over the next 2 nights, depending on availability.
Day 11 NAMIB DESERT
The day starts with an early wakeup call and an early morning 1 hour walk before breakfast. We can then order a packed lunch as we then drive to Sossousvlei. From the parking area we follow the trail to dead vlei and then continue onto Sossousvlei before returning to our vehicle. During the walk clients will have the opportunity to walk to the top of the sand dunes. We then make our way back to the lodge via Sesriem canyon for an hour walk. For those that still have the energy we can enjoy a sunset walk from our lodge for another hour.
Day 12 WINDHOEK
Another early start as we enjoy a 1 hour walk before our breakfast at the lodge. We then transfer the 300km to our game lodge on the outskirts of Windhoek. We should arrive for a late lunch, own expense, and we have a free afternoon for an optional game drive or guided walk on the property.
Day 13 TOUR ENDS - FLIGHT
We enjoy a leisurely breakfast and an optional game walk before enjoying some free time to explore Windhoek before completing our Namibian circle with a transfer to the airport.
